Scientific Games, a leading developer of lottery games, has extended its partnership with Ohio Lottery in the United States for another two years. The extended deal covers the management of Scratch-Off Games and SCiQ retail point-of-sale technology.
The Ohio Lottery Commission and Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership program started in 2019. The partnership involves the following responsibilities:
As a result of this agreement, over 800 convenience stores in Ontario can access scratch cards from the SCiQ technology. This allows companies like Circle K and Speedway to sell Ohio Lottery goods in-store. SCiQ provides lottery companies with real-time retail sales data and figures.
Commenting on the extended contract, John Schulz, Scientific Games President of Americas and Global Instant Products thanked the lottery operator for its vision to partner with Scientific Games on instant games. He said that the partnership will optimize the Ohio Lottery’s product portfolio and increase revenues for education.
“Ohio was also one of the first lotteries to launch our breakthrough SCiQ ecosystem at retail, which is the first technology of its kind to help retailers fully manage the lottery category in-store,” Schulz concluded.
The Ohio Lottery has experienced increased sales after sealing the Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership deal. The sales jumped from $1.6 billion in 2019 to $2.3 billion in 2023. In addition, the weekly capita sales increased by 8.8% annually between 2019 and 2023. This nearly doubled the average of 5% for the top 10 lotteries in the United States during the same period.
The World Lottery Association certifies Scientific Games to offer lottery games, with its products representing around 70% of the total retail lottery sales worldwide. Before the development in Ohio, Scientific Games extended the partnership with the North Carolina Education Lottery until June 30, 2027. In April, the company signed a 7-year extension with the Georgia Lottery as well.
